It is marvellous to see this site, with the proud history and tradition of the regiments on display like this.
I wish to send my heartfelt thanks and praise to the soldiers on active service in hostile territory at this time.
We are proud of you and owe you a debt that few could possibly understand.
As I feel indebted to you for your service, I shall be doing ALL in my power to prevent the loss of your regimental status and the traditions that accompany it.
If it takes months, I shall fight on.
For what is my effort on behalf of your regiment; compared to that of you men; who have served, sacrificed and even in some cases given your lives in combat for democracy.
I shall use my democratic right, to help save the regiment.
I shall also support all the other five, who are under sentence of losing their status and all that goes with it.
