Regimental campaigners to fight Labour at the polls.
16 March 2005
The fight to halt the amalgamation of Scottish regiments has seen the announcement of plans for the campaigners, who are an off-shoot of the Save the Scottish Regiments, to unite with hospital campaigners, fuel protesters and pensioners to form a tactical voting campaign against Labour.
The 'Don't Vote Labour' campaign will try to sway voters into casting their ballots in such a way as to inflict the greatest damage on Labour at the forthcoming Election.
The Save the Scottish Regiments campaign has plans to run its own candidates in key Labour seats and has so far endorsed non-Labour candidates in 15 other seats in Scotland.
Alex Salmond, the SNP leader, lent his support to the group at a London news conference.
The Save the Scottish Regiments campaign group also hopes to win support from pro-foxhunting groups, student groups and key public sector workers, including police and fire fighters.
