I should like to make some suggestions concerning the new uniform of the proposed RRofS. Unique items of uniform peculiar to each of the old regiments should be incorporated into the dress of the new.

Headgear - Glengarry with the blue hackle of the old Cameron Highlanders. Pipe band drummers - Feather bonnet with the red hackle of the Black Watch. Regimental Band - Feather bonnet with the scarlet tipped white hackle of the old Gordon Highlanders.

Doublet - Number 1 dress green doublet. Drummers and bandsmen - Pre-1914 Scarlet doublet with the correct lace for drummers and white piping for bandsmen.

Kilt - Government tartan with trews of Hunting Stewart for barrack dress and mess kit.

Spats - White with the black buttons of the Gordons.

These are my ideas. Others may have better ones. I would be glad to correspond with anyone on these points. However, having made the above suggestions merely recognizes an accomplished fact. In truth, I am appalled at the decision of the Labour government to trash regimental traditions on both sides of the border. I am afraid that the political establishment no longer care for the fine regimental esprit de corps for which the British Army has always been justly proud. Sic Transit Gloria Mundi!!
